Championship round-up: Leeds stay top and Sunderland slump to defeat

Leeds United 3-2 Ipswich Town

Leeds kept their place at the summit of the Championship after edging past Ipswich at Elland Road.

Thomas Christiansen’s side took the lead through Pierre-Michel Lasogga before David McGoldrick equalised for the Tractor Boys.

The hosts restored their lead thanks to Kalvin Phillips’s strike and an own-goal from Bartosz Bialkowski.

Joe Garner pulled one back for the visitors with 20 minutes remaining but it proved to be a consolation effort for Mick McCarthy’s team.

Sunderland 1-2 Cardiff City

Sunderland dropped into the relegation zone after suffering defeat at the hands of Cardiff at The Stadium of Light.

Craig Bryson gave the Bluebirds the lead before Lynden Gooch equalised for the Black Cats from the penalty spot.

But Cardiff were not to be denied all three points as Joe Ralls slotted his penalty into the net to keep his side level on points with leaders Leeds.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 Barnsley

Wolves secured a dramatic late victory to stay level on points with league leaders Leeds.

Bright Enobakhare gave the hosts the lead before Adam Jackson looked to have rescued a point for the Tykes.

But Wolves claimed all three points as Alfred N’Diaye’s strike in stoppage time saw off the visitors at the death.
